Become a Drag King*Quing

The drag king praxis is a queer collective and stage praxis born in the US in the 90s. It plays with the performance of masculinity to criticize patriarchy, gender binaries and/or find empowerment. This workshop is above all a collective experience of creation and reflection around drag and gender.

The workshop is held in English and/or German and open to everyone who experienced sexism and/or was oppressed by hegemonic masculinities in any kind of way. If you want to explore and deconstruct masculinities, this one is for you! (People who define themselves as cishet white endo men should reflect about why they would want to participate and if it's their space).

The workshops will be facilitated by Pétrole Désamour and Peach Fuzz.

Noé/Pétrole Désamour is a white, able-bodied, french trans* person, performing, organising queer events and facilitating drag king workshops since five years between Lyon and Berlin.

Peach is a white, able-bodied, German transmasculine nonbinary person who started doing drag after years of hesitation in december 2022. Since then, he has performed in different venues around Berlin, created his own show and hosted different shows. He sees drag as an important source of queer joy and a way to create community, work together and learn from others while also pushing himself out of his comfort zone.

You don't need previous experience to participate! On the contrary, we would like to encourage those who are hesitant but very interested in doing drag to participate! The workshops are about creating something collectively: a show but also a community, a shared experience about gender and drag.

We will dive into makeup and explore that side of drag, but it's not the center of the experience. We'll try to develop personas and find out together what drag can mean and be for each of us, on and off stage.
